Bodegas Tradicion

Bodegas Tradicion represents a benchmark in the world of sherry, the result of a family tradition lasting almost four centuries. The history of the winery begins in 1650, when Pedro Alonso Cabeza de Aranda y Zarco founded Bodegas CZ in Jerez de la Frontera, in the province of Cadiz. In 1771, the estate became the official supplier to the British Royal Family, while in 1791, with the marriage between Pedro Augustin Rivero de la Herran and Tomasa de la Tixera Menchaca, two of the most important families in the world of sherry came together, and the house was renamed Rivero CZ. During the 19th century, the winery further established itself thanks to a wide and high-quality production that led it to become the official supplier to the Spanish Royal Family in 1887, also obtaining permission to adopt the royal coat of arms on its wines. Already in the first half of the '900, Rivero CZ exported its products worldwide, including countries like China, the Philippines, and Cuba. However, in 1978 the winery was sold to the Carbonell Group against the wishes of the Rivero family. Twenty years later, in 1998, Joaquin Rivero founded Bodegas Tradicion with the intention of recovering and enhancing the long-standing family wine tradition, purchasing an old bodega in the historic center of Jerez and starting to select exceptional Solera reserves. In the following years, the estate underwent a progressive expansion, increasing the volumes and quality of the selected barrels, and today it is Helena, daughter of Joaquin Rivero, who continues the long family tradition.

The production of Bodegas Tradicion begins with the cultivation of Palomino Fino and Pedro Ximénez grapes, carefully selected and subjected to a sun-drying process. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels and is stopped through the technique of fortification, which consists of adding alcohol to the fermenting must. The liquids are then subjected to long aging in American oak barrels according to the Solera method, with reserves exceeding 40 years of age.

The sherries of Bodegas Tradicion intoxicate the senses with their depth and expressive intensity, ranking at the top quality levels of the category regardless of whether it is the Fino, Oloroso, or Pedro Ximenez type.
