Chateau Le Barry

Embracing a environmentally friendly viticulture, based on the principles of organic farming, the Bordeaux reality of Chateau Le Barry is configured as a small but authentic interpreter of its territory. The history of the winery began in the first half of the 1900s near the village of Saint-Genès-de-Fronsac, on the right bank of Bordeaux, where the cooler nature of the soils favors the cultivation of Merlot, the flagship variety of the area. The estate is now part of the movement of Vignerons Indépendants, an association founded in 1978 with the aim of promoting the work of small independent winemakers, a category that includes Chateau Le Barry.

The varietal platform of the Chateau Le Barry estate, spread over just 4 hectares of plots, is dedicated to the three main Bordeaux grape varieties, namely Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Malbec, another traditional Bordeaux variety, although decidedly less widespread than the three already mentioned. These grape varieties are grown under certified organic farming along the right bank of the Dordogne River, where the soil is rich in clay and limestone while the climate is strongly influenced by the cold currents coming from the nearby Atlantic Ocean. Some vineyard plantings date back to the 1960s, and after the harvest, the grapes undergo careful manual selection. This is followed by the operation of crushing in stainless steel tanks, containers in which alcoholic fermentation occurs in contact with the skins at controlled temperature. For the subsequent maturation phase, stainless steel tanks or French oak barrels, new and of multiple passages, are always used, always seeking the perfect association between the aromas of the grapes and those of the wood.

The Saint-Émilion of Chateau Le Barry, among the flagship labels of the winery, is a complete and balanced Bordeaux blend, characterized by intense aromas of small berries and various spices, combined with fresh balsamic puffs.
