Chermette
Domaines Chermette is an important wine-growing reality in southern Beaujolais that offers authentic and high-quality wines. This family-run winery, established in 1873, is located in Saint-Vérand, a small municipality 40 kilometers northwest of Lyon. The area is known as the so-called Pierres-Dorées, meaning "golden stones", named for the color of the rock historically used for constructing buildings in the area. In this context, Martine, Pierre-Marie, and Jean-Etienne Chermette combine tradition and innovation in search of the perfect compromise.
As stated by the producers themselves, the agronomic and oenological goal is to obtain healthy and fully ripe grapes to vinify in the most natural way possible. Following this belief, they embrace the principles of sustainable agriculture, and oenological intervention is minimized. In the vineyard, microclimatic parameters and plant conditions are constantly monitored.plants, in order to carry out treatments only when strictly necessary. The harvests, carried out entirely by hand, are accompanied by a strict selection of the grapes. Gamay, the symbolic grape of the winery, is vinified in a traditional way, without the addition of selected yeasts and with carbonic maceration. This type of processing involves placing whole clusters in a closed tank saturated with carbon dioxide, thus stimulating the intracellular alcoholic fermentation of the berries. Through this particular maceration, wines are obtained that tend to be rounder and fruitier, with soft tannins. Subsequently, depending on the bottle in question, the masses rest in steel tanks or old oak barrels.
The range of labels consists of white, rosé, and red wines from Beaujolais, with crus such as Brouilly, Fleurie, Moulin-à-Vent, and Saint-Amour. These are interpretations of great typicity and extraordinary pleasantness, capable of showcasing the wine-growing vocation of the territory. The production also includes refined Crémant de Bourgogne made solely from Chardonnay grapes, dosed Brut.and Extra Brut.
