De Vescovi Ulzbach
Descendant of an illustrious family of grape growers in the Piana Rotaliana for at least 300 years, Giulio De Vescovi, after a degree in Viticulture and Oenology and coming from just 10 harvests, has established himself as one of the most ambitious, original, and authoritative producers of Teroldego.
The vineyards, spread over three estates, are rooted in the heart of the Teroldego Rotaliano production area; they have an average age of 30 years and are cultivated partly with the traditional double pergola, partly with the trellis (the most recent ones). Already starting from the care of the vine, the will and determination that Giulio has shown for excellence is expressed: meticulous cultivation of the plant and thinning of the bunches exceeding what the production regulations would require.
The winery is located in an old house from the 1600s, dating back to that noble ancestor Vigilio de Vescovi Ulzbach, a doctor of theology, steward, and notary in the service of princes and powerful figures, who was the first of the family to arrive in the Campo Rotaliano. These are evocative and ancient rooms, restored and modernized just enough to make them functional for a wine production that, although small and niche, requires great care and attention to express its best. The fascinating atmosphere but above all the low temperature, the constant degree of humidity, and the little filtered light make these 17th-century rooms the ideal place for the storage and aging of wine in barrique.
In the De Vescovi cellar, the skill of the producer and the generosity of the land and microclimate reach full expression and unity: fundamental factors from which a young and fresh wine emerges that is not lacking in depth. Perfectly combining the centuries-old tradition of the family and the youthful liveliness of a modern winemaker, Giulio has demonstrated an uncommon talent for creating enveloping and full traditional wines of extraordinary value.
