Dumnacus
Dumnacus Vignerons is a cooperative that draws inspiration from the ancient Gallic hero who, during the Roman campaigns in Gaul, challenged Julius Caesar on the banks of the Loire. Like this hero, the winemakers of Dumnacus have come together in a cooperative to proudly carry forward the culture and local traditions of the Loire Valley, a project that encompasses dozens of denominations between Anjou and Tours. A work that upholds values of unity and resilience, all while maintaining pride in their territory.
The winemakers of Dumnacus Vignerons follow an approach that prioritizes the authentic expression of the territory, striving to bring out the maximum varietal identity of each cultivated grape, all indigenous to the Loire Valley. Every phase of winemaking is guided by the principle of preserving the natural characteristics of the grape, thus favoring steel for whites, brief aging for ‘Methode Traditionelle’, and short passages in wood for reds. This way, the terroir is free to express itself through respectful practices that enhance the biodiversity and viticultural ecosystem of the region.
Dumnacus offers numerous wines that make up a varied range, a mirror of the local richness in the Loire: soft rosés and powerful reds based on Pinot Nero and Gamay, Malbec and Cabernet Franc; dry or sweet whites with Chardonnay and Chenin, Melon and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as sparkling wines that express well the freshness of their territories. The wide variety reflects the complexity of the territory in the effort to maintain and promote the local tradition, interpreted with modernity to give voice to the unique character of each denomination. Just as Dumnacus was able to unite many Gallic tribes under a single objective.
