Versio Francesco

Francesco Versio is one of the emerging producers of the Langhe, a talented young winemaker who creates elegant, territorial wines. The winery is located in Neive, a municipality in the Barbaresco area, where in 2012 Francesco officially began his adventure, elevating the family tradition. In fact, for years the Versio family dedicated themselves to selling grapes from the old vineyards of Francesco's grandfather, included in the crus of San Cristoforo and Currà, before stopping when the young man started vinifying on his own. Key milestones in the prestigious journey of the winemaker were his degree in Oenology obtained in 2009 and the years of experience as a cellar worker at the renowned Bruno Giacosa winery, where Francesco had the opportunity to grow under the supervision of the famous oenologist Dante Scaglione.

Neive, like Albesani, Currà, San Cristoforo, and Starderi, all characterized by excellent southwest exposure. In general, the plots lie on soils made up of clay, sand, and limestone, the content of which varies depending on the reference subzone. In the winery, Francesco adopts a traditional and minimalist style, based on spontaneous fermentations and generally prolonged macerations. For the Barbaresco, aging takes place strictly in large Slavonian oak barrels, while for the maturation of the other wines, steel tanks and concrete vats are also used.

This is how the wines of Francesco Versio are born, authentic expressions of Langa produced without compromises, capable of highlighting the elegance and complexity of the territory. The flagship of the production is, needless to say, the Barbaresco, an expression of the four crus cultivated by the winemaker, which stands out for its complex and refined aromas, as well as for its noble tannin. Completing the range is a juicy Dogliani, an intense Barbera d'Alba, and a surprisingly layered Langhe Nebbiolo.
