Chateau de Garnerot
In the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, in Mercurey, stands Château de Garnerot, an estate that tells a story of passion, courage, and rebirth. It is not the classic return to origins, but a new beginning desired by Alexia Russo and Caroline Fyot, who after international careers decide to leave the world of luxury and insurance to realize a childhood dream: to create a winery. After training in Beaune and various experiences in vineyards of the Côte de Nuits and Côte Chalonnaise, their first wine was born in 2018. They choose an 18th-century residence, already the scene of important wine-related events, to give life to a project that combines tradition, authenticity, and hospitality. Château de Garnerot is not just a place of production, but an invitation to discover the soul of southern Burgundy.
At Chateau de Garnerot, six hectares of vineyards, divided between Côte Chalonnaise and Côte de Beaune, are cultivated using organic methods (in conversion since 2022) and, on some parcels, also biodynamic. Here, nothing is left to chance: every choice respects the rhythms of nature, from the lunar calendar to pruning according to the Guyot and Guyot Poussard methods. The soil is studied in depth and nourished with precision, to return to the wine all the richness of the terroir.deep and nurtured with precision, to return to the wine all the richness of the terroir. In the cellar, the philosophy is the same: minimal interference and maximum respect. The whites ferment in barriques after a cold racking, the reds undergo delicate macerations and spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts. Each parcel gives life to a cuvée, each with its own voice.
The wines of Chateau de Garnerot tell the diversity of the territory: from the fresh Aligoté to the refined Mercurey Premier Cru, each bottle reflects the personality of its vineyard. Alongside direct production, the négoce activity Chai Garnerot expands the offering, keeping the identity of each wine intact. But the project goes beyond the bottle: the castle is a place of meeting, tasting, and discovery, where every visit becomes a journey into the authentic heart of Burgundy.
