Chateau Le Peuy Saincrit

Along the 45th parallel, considered one of the most suitable enological latitudes as it is halfway between the North Pole and the equator, Chateau Le Peuy Saincrit operates, a wine estate in Bordeaux focused on high-quality production and environmental sustainability. The Chateau, run by the Surain family for three generations, is located right at the gates of the town of Saint-André-de-Cubzac, along the right bank of the Dordogne River, in the Libournais area. In particular, the winery falls under the Bordeaux Supérieur designation, an AOC that aims to emphasize a “superior” quality level compared to the generic Bordeaux designation, with greater quality also deriving in part from the higher density of plants per hectare in the vineyards and lower grape yields.

The vineyards owned by Chateau Le Peuy Saincrit are spread over 14 hectares on the hilly slopes of Montalot, the highest in the region, a factor that promotes significant temperature variations between day and night. Furthermore, the hilly position and excellent south-facing exposure allow for the optimization of solar radiation, resulting in benefits for the ripening of the grapes. The plants, mostly very old, rest on rocky soils characterized by a thin layer of clay and limestone. Based on these environmental parameters, adopting an agronomic approach respectful of the environment, the estate cultivates the traditional Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and, above all, Merlot, the flagship grape of the right bank of the Bordeaux region. The winemaking process is traditional, based on alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, preceded by a cold pre-fermentation maceration of as much as 10 days, and subsequent aging in French oak barrels.

The reds of Chateau Le Peuy Saincrit stand out for their clear aromas of berries and spices, distinctive traits of Bordeaux Supérieur. These wines are ideal for starting to approach the prestigious Bordeaux wine world without spending a fortune, while having the guarantee of purchasing labels of absolute pleasantness.
