Augustin Marc

The Maison Marc Augustin is located in Avenay-Val-d’Or, in the heart of the Champagne region, just a few kilometers from the famous village of Épernay. The Domaine is fortunate to have a particularly privileged geographical position, allowing the use of Pinot Noir grown in the Montagne de Reims area and Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs area for the production of the cuvées. Two excellences that come together in this precious border territory. It is a family Maison, backed by the experience of 9 generations of vignerons, who have been cultivating vines in this extraordinary French region for centuries.

As often happens in Champagne, the estate consists of numerous parcels, each with unique and specific characteristics. Each single vineyard is managed differently depending on the soil composition and local microclimate. Always attentive to responsible vineyard management, the Marc Augustin winery obtained organic certification in 2012 and biodynamic certification in 2016. The attention to the vineyard translates into plants with a natural vegetative and productive balance, which give healthy and genuine grapes. Biodynamics is lived as a true philosophy of life, involving all the activities of the Maison, as part of a larger and more complex ecosystem, to be preserved and protected as a supreme and intangible good.

The Marc Augustin Champagnes are the result of respect for the natural environment, the land, the water, and the vine, and represent the search to express the character of the terroir directly. The parcel vinifications of the single vineyards allow for a wide range of vins clairs to create the cuvées. Each winemaking process is conducted with the utmost respect for the raw material, ensuring the best varietal expression of the grapes. Indigenous yeasts are used, low-temperature processes are not employed, and sulfites are used in minimal quantities. For the aging of the base wines, vitrified concrete tanks, wooden barrels from the forests of the Montagne de Reims, and terracotta dolia are used. Thus, Champagne of great expressive purity, elegant and authentic.
