Domaine des Ardoisieres

The Domaine des Ardoisières is located in the heart of Savoie, a region historically linked to viticulture, as evidenced by references in the works of Columella and in the writings of Pliny and Celsus. The history of vine cultivation in these lands dates back to Roman times, with the "Vitis Allobrogica" already spreading in the 1st century BC. After a phase of ecclesiastical dominance in the Middle Ages, the viticulture of Savoie passed into the hands of the nobility and bourgeoisie, before being taken up by the peasant plains in the 19th century. The Domaine des Ardoisières was founded in 1997 thanks to the meeting between Denis Perroux and the vigneron Michel Grisard, and has developed over the years with the aim of enhancing the mountainous territory, becoming today an example of biodynamic viticulture in this alpine area. The unique terroir of Cevins and Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy is at the center of production, which stands out for the quality and purity of its wines, reflecting the identity of these lands.

and nourish the soil as a living organism. The vines are cultivated on soils characterized by metamorphic rock and loamy-sandy soil, with a planting density that varies depending on the type of vineyard. In Cevins, where the soil is rich in mica schist, varieties such as Persan, Mondeuse noire, and Altesse are grown on terraced soils with slopes of up to 60%. Here, the vines are planted on échalas following the contours to preserve the integrity of the landscape. In Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy, on the other hand, the soils are clay-limestone and host varieties such as Gamay, Mondeuse blanche, and Jacquère. The rigorous management in the vineyard is followed by natural winemaking, with spontaneous fermentations and the use of indigenous yeasts that allow the wines to fully express the character of the terroir. The working philosophy translates into an absolute respect for nature, with a limited yield per hectare that guarantees the quality of the grapes.

The style of the wines from Domaine des Ardoisières is characterized by a great purity and aromatic complexity, which arises from the synergy between the terroir and biodynamics. The white wines, such as those made from Altesse and Roussanne,
