Drémont Marroy

In the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, in Charly-sur-Marne, lies the Domaine Drémont-Marroy, a family-run business that has proudly passed down its savoir-faire for four generations. The story begins in 1955, when the first bottle of Champagne was marketed, at a time when the estate had just one hectare of vineyard. The grandparents, Jean-Marie and Geneviève Drémont, were primarily breeders and farmers, but they were the ones who laid the first foundations of the vineyard. The real expansion, however, is due to Jean-Louis Drémont and Françoise Marroy, who, with dedication and hard work, have increased the vineyard area to the current 7.5 hectares. Today, their children Mélanie and Jean-Rémie, alongside their parents, continue the family work, blending tradition and innovation. Located between Paris and Reims, the estate stands in one of the widest bends of the Marne River, in an ideal position that gives uniqueness to the terroir and the Champagnes that derive from it.

manual labor, with some areas managed with the help of a Boulonnais draft horse, a breed at risk of extinction. The Domaine extends over 23 parcels distributed across four villages, all facing along the banks of the Marne, on alluvial and sedimentary soils composed of clay, limestone, and sand. These soils, combined with the humid and changeable climate, make cultivation particularly challenging but also stimulating. The cultivated grape varieties are the three classics of Champagne – Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir – with a prevalence of Meunier, which expresses itself with character, softness, and aromatic richness. The vinifications take place separately for each parcel, using concrete eggs, wooden barrels, and vats, with an approach as non-interventionist as possible, to enhance the identity of each plot.

The production philosophy of the Drémont-Marroy family aims to create authentic Champagnes, capable of telling the deep bond between soil, vine, and those who cultivate them. Each bottle is born with the goal of expressing a different voice of the vineyard, paying homage to the variety of soils and the specificities of each vintage. Alongside technical quality, there are also emotional details: the great-grandmother, an educated and charismatic woman, was the first to write the history of the estate, cultivating the vines while teaching as the village schoolteacher. Today, the new generation has embraced that legacy with enthusiasm, facing the challenge of respectful and personal viticulture. The Champagnes of the Domaine stand out for their balance, elegance, and a deep connection to the land, fully reflecting the identity of the Vallée de la Marne.
