Favaro Benito
The Benito Favaro winery was founded in 1992. This small reality has always been family-run and is now led by Camillo Favaro, assisted in the vineyards by his father Benito, his sister Elena, and her husband Claudio. Benito was a great winemaker and a brilliant producer, the one who had the intuition to start this adventure 15 years ago.
The vineyards of Benito Favaro extend in Piverone, on the Serra, the largest morainic hill in Europe. The landscape is breathtaking: the nearby lake of Viverone acts as a thermal regulator and the woods provide a wild counterpoint to the presence of man and the many cultivated terraces. Here the Favaro family passionately and lovingly cultivates its vineyards; for the Erbaluce, symbol of this beautiful reality, the traditional and tested pergola is preferred, while for the other grape varieties the classic guyot trellis is used. In managing the vineyards, they have always tried to avoid following trends: here tradition and common sense prevail, which is why interventions are always measured and are implemented only if strictly necessary. The soil is made up of pebbles and clay that give the wines freshness, while the south-facing exposure and the altitude between 350 and 400 meters make a difference in terms of character.
All these precautions are essential to create complex wines, with a strong personality and naturalness in taste approach. It seems like a fairy tale, instead it is the simple story of a family that produces wine believing in their work and in their territory.
