Orlando Abrigo

The Orlando Abrigo winery is located in Treiso, a small village among the hills that dominate Barbaresco. The Abrigo family has been cultivating their vineyards for generations, passing down knowledge that has been consolidated over time. Today, this reality is led by Giovanni Abrigo, heir to a long tradition, who has managed to combine respect for history with a modern and innovative vision. In 2013, the new winery was built, designed by architect Marco Ferreri as a place of technical and qualitative avant-garde. Today, the estate represents a synthesis between Langhe tradition and contemporary vision of viticulture.

Today, Orlando Abrigo has about 20 hectares of vineyards, paying great attention to the native varieties of the area. Nebbiolo, the absolute protagonist of great reds and the soul of the estate's crus, is accompanied by Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato, and Nascetta, grape varieties that tell the richness of the Langhe. The work in the vineyard is based on targeted interventions along the rows, aimed at preserving the soil and enhancing the natural characteristics of the grapes. The manual management of the main operations, such as pruning and harvest, allows for an accurate selection of the bunches, while the favorable exposure of the hills promotes a slow and complete ripening of the grapes.

In the winery, Orlando Abrigo prefers an artisanal approach, with natural fermentations by indigenous yeasts. The macerations on the skins allow for the obtaining of elegant tannins and intense aromas, while the careful management of temperatures preserves freshness and structure. Some wines rest in wooden barrels to achieve softness and depth, others in steel to maintain liveliness and varietal purity. A tale of territory and passion, where each bottle carries the soul of the hills of Treiso.
