The Friulano from Ferlat represents a white wine that well expresses the character of the grape variety and the territory from which it descends. Friulano is one of the oldest and most emblematic grape varieties of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, known for its characteristic and pleasant almond aftertaste. Until 2007, this native variety was called Tocai but, due to a legal dispute with Hungary contesting its excessive similarity and thus possible confusion with its own wine Tokaji, it had to change its name to Friulano.

Ferlat Friulano is produced solely from grapes of the same native variety, grown under certified organic farming. When the bunches have reached full ripeness, harvesting takes place followed by destemming and crushing. The resulting must is subjected to a brief contact with the skins of about 24 hours, followed by a gentle pressing. The subsequent alcoholic fermentation, conducted exclusively by indigenous yeasts, takes place in cement tanks, as does the following spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The aging of a few months takes place in the same containers on the fine lees with periodic batonnage and precedes bottling.

To the eye, Friulano Ferlat expresses an intense straw-yellow color tending towards golden with greenish reflections. The nose is dominated by fruity and floral descriptors such as jasmine, dried flowers, wildflowers, summer fruit, and bitter almond. The taste is coherent, defined by velvety softness, rich mineral vein and lively freshness, as well as a pleasant and characteristic almond finish. A seductive interpretation of Friulano to pair with seafood dishes, flavorful pasta, and rich savory pies.
