Podere Castellinuzza

In the heart of Chianti Classico, among the unspoiled hills of Lamole, lies Podere Castellinuzza, a small organic family-run farm, led for generations by the Coccia family. The estate, located in Castellinuzza, spans about 9 hectares, of which 3.5 are dedicated to vineyards, 2 to olive trees, and the rest covered by a picturesque chestnut forest. The history of this reality is rooted in sharecropping: in 1962, with great courage and vision, the Coccia family purchased the land they had been working since the early 1900s, transforming a work relationship into a life project. Today, the company is perfectly integrated into the landscape and tradition of Chianti Classico, one of the most important and historic denominations in Italy, and represents an authentic example of how viticulture can be done with respect, dedication, and love for the land.

entirely female, enriching the company with passion and diverse skills. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 550 and 600 meters above sea level, in an area that enjoys ideal climatic conditions to enhance the aromas, elegance, and finesse of the wines. The soils are mainly composed of Macigno del Chianti, a compressed sandstone with traces of silicon, which uniquely contributes to the aromatic profile and longevity of the wines. Here, there are ancient vines, some of which reach 150 years and are even prefillossera, an absolute rarity in the Italian wine scene. Winemaking occurs in respect of nature: spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts in vitrified concrete tanks and minimal interventions in the cellar, allowing the wine to express the character of the territory in purity.

Among the most representative wines of Podere Castellinuzza stands out the Chianti Classico, a Sangiovese from high Lamole, fresh and taut, with a beautiful fruit in evidence and an aftertaste reminiscent of orange peel and graphite. The vines, distributed over small terraced plots immersed in a landscape of irises, violets, wild strawberries, and chestnut woods, behave like true crus, each with its own identity. The area is particularly suited for historical and spiritual reasons: Mount San Michele, at the foot of which the farm stands, is located along the so-called Sacred Line of Saint Michael the Archangel, a geographical alignment that connects seven European sanctuaries dedicated to the archangel. A curiosity that adds charm and mystery to this corner of Tuscany, where the spirituality of the place is reflected in daily work and in the depth of the wines. Podere Castellinuzza represents a small gem of Chianti Classico, capable of combining history, territory, and authenticity in every bottle.
