Deltetto
Deltetto is a well-established family-run winery that has been aiming to offer the best of the wine excellence of Langhe and Roero for over 70 years, with a recognizable style based on cleanliness and organoleptic finesse. The winery was founded in 1953 in Canale, a municipality in the Roero area, a land of great white and red wines located on the opposite bank of the Tanaro River compared to the prestigious areas of Barolo and Barbaresco. However, the Deltetto family has been dedicated to viticulture since the late 1800s, with wine production and marketing only undertaken in the post-war period. The estate, which operates under the sign of sustainability, has shown its foresight and versatility over the years, having been among the pioneers of the birth of the Roero denomination and having successfully undertaken the production of Metodo Classico sparkling wines, starting the first experiments as early as the 1980s. The Deltetto family is also active in social and cultural fields through the “Etichette d’autore” project, based on collaboration with young artists aimed at addressing significant issues with a
solidarity on issues of considerable relevance. On marine and alluvial origin soils, rich in sand and limestone, the Deltetto family cultivates the traditional grape varieties Arneis, Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Favorita, as well as the international varieties Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, mainly used in sparkling wine production. The estate achieved organic certification in 2017, while the winemaking approach adopted aims to obtain wines of great aromatic cleanliness without resorting to invasive operations. In this perspective, fermentations are initiated through pied de cuve, the use of sulfur is minimized to the necessary minimum, and the use of invasive enological aids is excluded.
The labels signed by Deltetto include rather varied types and styles, each capable of telling the high qualitative level of the denominations of Basso Piemonte, from Alta Langa sparkling wines to Roero, passing through Barbera d’Alba, Barolo, Nebbiolo d’Alba, and Roero Arneis. Among these stands out the premium selection ‘Le conchiglie del Roero’, which aims to express in different forms the marine origin of the territory of
