L''Astemia

The story of L'Astemia begins with its founder, Sandra Vezza, an entrepreneur who decides to create a winery in Barolo and to name it, in an unconventional way, "Astemia". A provocative name that, paradoxically, declares a deep love for the land and a return to origins, as well as representing a reflection on the traditional canons of the wine world. In 2010, L'Astemia Pentita was born, a wine and design project in which family memory dialogues with a modern and dynamic concept of art and hospitality. This modernity is felt both outside and inside the winery, a true imaginative space designed to communicate the wine reality in a transversal way.

The lands of L'Astemia extend between the municipalities of Barolo and Monforte, for a total of seventeen hectares, including several historic vineyards, many of which are cultivated organically. The winery itself is an architectural work of great impact: two enormous oversized parallelepipeds that represent a visual manifesto of the combination of wine, vineyard, and technological innovation. The winemaking takes place in steel for the fresher and more immediate wines, while for Barolo the process involves fermentation and aging in large oak barrels. A meeting between roots and Langhe tradition, without giving up a dose of unconventionality.

L'Astemia mainly cultivates indigenous grape varieties: among the reds, Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo, the latter also offered in rosé version, along with the white Nascetta. International varieties, on the other hand, are used to explore the potential of the terroir, with numerous single-varietal wines based on Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Nero, and Viognier, a grape variety that is achieving excellent results in this part of Piemonte. The flagship of the production is Barolo, vinified also from single crus, including the prestigious Cannubi, in addition to the Additional Geographical Mentions such as Terlo and Sarmassa.
